Hi, I’m Nikki Monaghan, an artist living and working from my studio in Falkirk, Scotland.
Inspired by Scotland’s coastal villages, cities, and the Highlands, I paint scenes that capture not just how a place looks, but how it feels — full of atmosphere, movement, and those familiar everyday moments.
After studying Printed Textile Design at the Scottish College of Textiles, I spent several years in the creative industries before becoming a full-time artist over 18 years ago. My work is built up in layers using paint, inks, charcoal, and pastels, creating texture and depth. I work from a mix of photographs and memory, allowing each painting to develop with a balance of observation and imagination.
At the heart of my work is a sense of connection — many people tell me my paintings remind them of somewhere they’ve been, or somewhere they love. That feeling is what I aim to capture in every piece.
Original paintings and limited edition prints are available to buy online, and I also welcome commission enquiries if you’re looking for something personal.
Thank you for taking the time to visit — I hope you find something that feels like home.
Nikki
